#1 I love how we can see two distinct poofs of the sand in this shot – one for the forelegs and one for the rear. So, so cute

“I recently heard someone ponder about whether powder photography is effective with small dogs. It prompted me to dig into my archives to find the smallest dog I’ve worked with. End result: yes, powder photography is absolutely possible with small dogs. The ground just tends to play a bit bigger role in reading the movement of the dog. In this shot, I opted to leave the line of the ground to create texture and visual interest.”

#2 Feeling a little blue? I’ve got the cure for that!

“Blanton and his family trekked many miles and across a border to work with me a short while ago. You may not be able to tell, but Blanton is just a 10 month old pup here. Not half bad for a wee pupper, eh?”

#3 This was a last-minute addition to my submission, funnily enough. An excellent fellow Canadian photog convinced me to submit this one in lieu of a weaker shot. Whew!

“This shot was literally from my very first foray into studio action photography. It was probably the second time I’d even set up my lights. I was enormously lucky to capture this shot of the charismatic Hydro the Australian Koolie at this event. Not half bad, I say! “A

I went delving into my first Holi sports model call again to see if there were any other hidden gems in there. I hope you enjoy this shot of Image weaving.
This session was the first time I ever even attempted using flash to capture motion in studio. Talk about trial by fire. There were so many amazing shots that came out of this day.

#9 OMG the COLOURS here.

I love doing these flyball shots with my powder. My goal with every shot is to create a crisp, action-filled image with depth created by, among other things, dynamic lighting and a wide spectrum of colour. Quinn’s photo practically jumps out of the screen.

Flyball + powder is just about my favourite thing ever. I love the texture and colour in these shots! And for those of you familiar with the sport, I have approximately 0.1 second to capture the shot I want at the box. These dogs are FAST.
